Horse Jumps in Amarillo Couple Engagement Photo

A lot of my job here in Amarillo includes hours of scrolling through social media looking for things to write about. It's countless times looking for news that might be of interest. Sometimes I end up falling asleep at night just scrolling looking for newsworthy Amarillo stories.

Recently I was scrolling like I do when a digital creator posted a photo. This photo was of a perfectly interesting background horse with a smiling couple. This couple was unaware that this horse was going to be a part of their engagement photos forever.

I chuckled at the photo and kept going. Then I stopped for a second because I thought no way. That couple looked like people I knew. My first thought was it had to be Jennifer and Travis. What are the odds? I had to be wrong.

Who Are Those Smiling People?

So I scrolled back to the photo and looked at it a little more and thought this has to be Jennifer and Travis Homer. When I clicked on the photo the first comment I saw was someone tagging them both in the post. I was not crazy.

Now if the last name Homer sounds familiar at all it should. There used to be a fun community music festival called Homer's Backyard Ball. Yep, same Travis Homer. He and Jennifer spent many weekends in that mud listening to great music. It was one of those things that brought Amarillo together in an empty field for some time.

The photo in question was their engagement photo taken twelve years ago. Their niece was the photographer and nobody had noticed the perfectly placed horse in the background. Now it is something that is bringing a smile to many people's faces. Not just those of us in Amarillo.

How perfect is that photo? That horse and that perfect photobomb is one for the records. It already has over thirty-two thousand likes, fifteen thousand forwards, and almost one thousand comments. People are definitely seeing it.

Those of us in Amarillo can be proud to know the smiling couple and how a photo from twelve years ago can make us all smile.
