When I first heard that this fan-favorite restaurant in the Texas Panhandle might be for sale, I had to investigate. I was really in denial. I don't go to this restaurant all the time because it is a forty-five-minute drive from Amarillo. Anytime I drive in the direction of this place I do put it in my plans to stop.

So when I saw someone post that the El Camino in Tulia was up for sale I had to look into it. Could this be the end of the delicious Mexican food on Highway 87? This really could be a sad development for anyone living in Tulia or who travels through the area.

Because it is right on the highway, this location has a built-in customer base for anyone traveling through. Many people make that stop, so it would be sad to see it go. A location that has been there since 1966 would be sad to see go.  When I searched, I found a listing for El Camino. Sadly, it is for sale. Check it out HERE.

According to the listing:

Take advantage of a rare opportunity to own a well-established restaurant in a prime location! This thriving eatery boasts excellent visibility and high foot traffic, making it the perfect destination for both locals and travelers. Prime Location: Situated directly on a busy highway, the restaurant benefits from a constant stream of potential customers, ensuring steady business year-round. Established Reputation: Known for its delicious menu and welcoming atmosphere, this restaurant has built a loyal customer base and excellent online reviews. Fully Equipped: The sale includes all kitchen equipment, furniture, and fixtures, allowing for a seamless transition for the new owner.

The hope is that whoever buys this great restaurant is able to keep it as it is. The listing doesn't say but I really hope the menu and recipes go with the sale. The best thing will be if someone who currently works there or has worked there in the past can get the money to purchase it.

It would really be a sad day for everyone if El Camino goes away.
