Life happens—good and bad—in the Amarillo and Canyon area. It's just the way it is. While life is happening, it can affect local businesses. We saw it when Sticky Chikky first opened.

Shortly after opening, a tragic car accident changed everything. One owner passed away, and another had life-altering injuries. The owner's son stepped in and continued the business. They just celebrated their one-year anniversary.

Tragedy Strikes a Beloved Local Business

Recently, another tragic event has added complications to another business. This one is in Canyon. The Pampered Pooch is located at 2335 9th Ave in Canyon, and recently, news came out about its owner, Nikki West. This situation directly impacts the business. The post was in the All Things Canyon group.

Nikki West’s Condition Sparks Community Support

According to the post, Nikki was in the Intensive Care Unit with a brain bleed. They have asked for prayers and mentioned that Nikki was in a coma. The news had the community praying and concerned about what was to come of her business. There may have been grooming appointments already on the books. Those customers definitely understood the situation.

The Pampered Pooch Stays Open with a New Lead Groomer

This is not a pause on the business or even the end, which is good news. There was recently an update on the Pampered Pooch from Brittney Gantt in the same Canyon group:

FYI!  The Pampered Pooch will still be open, and I will be the groomer there from here on out! At this time, it has been hard to get to all the phone calls, and we are currently a week booked out. All I ask is to please be patient with me and the family of Nikki West while we navigate through this rough time. Thank you.

Canyon’s Resilience and Memories of Nikki

Since the post from Brittney taking over the Pampered Pooch in Canyon, the news came out about Nikki:

It is with a extremely heavy heart that we announce in the early mornings of July 14, our beloved Nikki has passed away and is starting a new chapter in her life. Sadly, now all we can do now is keep her memory alive. Thank you again to everyone who was a part of her journey in life. Nikkis spirit will forever live on, and the kindness she gave to those around her will always be cherished and our memories with her may never be forgotten.

Our thoughts are with Nikki's family and friends. The Pampered Pooch will go on in Canyon, which is what Nikki would have wanted.
