Randall County Remembers Families During Christmas Season
Everywhere you look Christmas is all around. We have our houses and businesses lit up to the extreme. The ornaments are hung. Our living rooms look like a winter wonderland.
We are excited about the Christmas season. So much so that we may have started decorating right after Halloween. That is ok because the more holiday cheer we have the better. We can all use a bit more spirit and love this time of year.
There are some families that have been dealing with losing a loved one here in Amarillo. They have lost a loved one due to a crime that happened in our city. They need and want a way to feel that love right now.
That is why just last year Randall County started something to give all the family and friends of these senseless crimes a bit of a warm hug this holiday season. It all has started with Randall County's Tree of Angels.
Last year it was decorated with over one hundred and fifty ornaments that had names of friends and family lost to a crime here in Amarillo. That tree and those ornaments are to give remembrance to families. It shows them that their loved one has not been forgotten.
This year they are going to do it again. They invite friends and families of loved ones lost due to a crime in Randall County to come out to the Tree of Angels Dedication Ceremony. The tree will be decorated with ornaments with each crime victim on display.
The tree will be on display at the Randall County Annex from December 7th through New Year's. Randall County will also be honoring law enforcement that lost their lives on the job.
This is a great way to look back and remember the good times and know your family member or friend will never be forgotten here in Amarillo.
