We asked and you talked about your water bill in Amarillo. We know that in the summer you may use more water than usual if you fill up a swimming pool or you are striving to have the greenest lawn on your block. What about the rest of us?

We wanted to know about your experience with your water bill over the summer. We sent out a survey. We wanted to know if your bill went up or not. I went back and checked my water bill for the summer and mine has not changed at all. My bill has been just below $70 each month.

I do not have a pool. I don't go crazy watering my yard at all. It's about the same for most of the year. So I have not personally noticed any change. I am not in the majority though. There are a lot of people here in Amarillo that have noticed the change. There are a lot that have suffered the increase in their bill.

Water bills in Amarillo this summer have increased anywhere between twenty dollars more a month to as high as a four hundred dollar increase. Some just say their bill has doubled.

Here are some of the responses from the survey:

They're robbing us on our water bills because they know we really have no choice. And I know they only read them about every 3 to 4 months because I have covered my water meter up a couple of times just to see how long they have gone without reading it

Another person claimed that their meters had not been read. I know that mine have been. I check every month and kind of keep an eye on it others don't think it is happening.

They don't read the meter.. They constantly jack up prices then make you feel guilty when they give you a small
discount.. But its still WAY UP! And depending on your neighborhood, its averaged between all of you.!

Higher water bills are not only hitting at home. Work bills are up too.

Work at a local facility and handle the bills. Our rainwater portion of the bill is nearly $1,300 this is ridiculous. A few years back it was only $900

Has your changed drastically? You can still take part in the survey:
