Do you ever just take in your surroundings when you are driving around Amarillo? I swear that is the best way to notice new things. Recently, when I was leaving work and heading home, I noticed a parking lot torn up in the location of I-40 and Bell.

A Parking Lot That Caught Attention

In the back of my head, I thought that it was really a bummer for a newer restaurant in Amarillo. Sobee Sushi had opened its doors earlier this spring. They were the third restaurant added to the Sushi House family. They took over the location from Sumo.  Now, with the parking lot the way it was, it seemed like it would be hard to get to the door.

Sobee Sushi’s Sudden Closure

I went on about my day until I received a text from a friend.

So, apparently that Sobee Sushi place in the old King and I at I40 and Bell is closed. There is a sign saying they are opening something else and says its under new management. -Kristen

Signs of Change at I-40 and Bell

Ok, things are making sense. They are closed so the parking lot construction is not what is keeping business away. The closed doors are doing the damage.

The front of the building says something about opening soon and on the side it says something about under new management. You can't get up close to it to really see because apparently they are redoing the parking lot. The construction is what caught my attention They have the parking lot blocked off there at Sobee Sushi. -Kristen

Will a New Restaurant Move In?

Not sure if they are sticking with the same restaurant and just making changes or they are totally changing everything including the name. I guess only time will tell if we add Sobee Sushi to the closed restaurant list in Amarillo.

Update: After a painful drive up Bell Street to see if I could see the signs, yes, it is going to be a new restaurant.

Welcome to Cowboy Sushi Fusion to the neighborhood. Here is to that construction in the parking lot being done and getting that restaurant location up and running again. We are always ready to support good food in Amarillo.
