Dasher Diary: The Worst People to Deal With While Dashing in Amarillo, Texas
Most of the time delivering food in Amarillo is a fun and relatively easy job. I mean if you can deal with the traffic and the weather it can be easy. I know a struggle is figuring out which streets are under construction and we should just know that it is easier to just list the ones that are not.
You figure those should be the biggest struggles. You might have to deal with long wait times at some restaurants but even that hasn't been too bad. The one nightmarish situation is dealing with dishonest people in Amarillo.
Yes, there can be customers who call DoorDash and say they never got food. Most of the time they are just trying to get free food. Even if there is a clear photo of the food sitting in front of their door, they still try.

I don't understand this thought process because you are not going to win. You are just going to end up being one of those who have to have a PIN to give us upon delivery. It's just more work for all of us.
It's not only the customers who are stealing. There are some very dishonest delivery drivers. I don't understand this at all. I would much rather have money at the end of the night than a bag of burritos. It, unfortunately, happens way too often and something needs to be done.
I understand why as a dasher the restaurant asks us to hit confirm on the order when we pick it up. They are tired of the theft too but there are ways around that too. The one thing we don't want is to slow down the process for our honest delivery people.
Stolen Food Causes Plenty of Headaches
There are some drivers who go in and take the food and keep it. Then unassign and when the next person goes in the food is not there. It causes a lot of issues for the honest dasher, the restaurant, and the customer.
The other problem is that sometimes it is not even a delivery driver who is being dishonest. Sometimes it is a random person who goes in and just grabs food off the shelf. Thieves are bad all around.
It's a shame that restaurants are going to have to keep food behind the counter and become babysitters. Then we have to wait, as delivery drivers, for them to stop what they are doing, check our phones, have us confirm, and hand us the order.
Unfortunately, that is what some restaurants have started to do. It's a shame that some bad people are ruining it for everyone.
