Tell Me We Aren’t Losing Another Donut Stop in Amarillo?

I saw a post early this morning about the Donut Stop on I40 & Bell being closed. What? No donuts when I got off the air this morning is what that means for me. Are they closing? What is going on?

I would hope we would have a little bit of notice. A little more that that. I mean they are the Donut Stop that has kolaches so that is very important to me. I would just not be able to cope.

Then I thought back to yesterday. I was walking with my buddy. We were doing a six-mile walk helping her train for her Susan G. Komen Three-Day for the Cure walk. She will be in San Diego this year. So we are training. Our walk yesterday brought us up I40. We would be turning at Bell Street.

We had to get there first. The access road up I40 was flooded. Yes, it rained a lot in Amarillo on Saturday but this could not be that.

We couldn't walk on the sidewalk to where we needed to go so we cut through the neighborhood. There were neighbors coming out trying to figure out what was going on. Nobody knew where the water started.

So we kept on and cut back through to I40 frontage road when we could. I mean we were being a bit nosey and wanted to know what was going on. Then we saw this as we got close to Bell Street.

Just watch that water as it is bubbling up. That is right in front of The Donut Stop. It was open as we were walking by but for how long? There were city trucks working on shutting off the water. It was a mess.

So I should have known when I saw that Donut Stop was closed today that was why. A water main break on Sunday. Do know that they were still working on it today. Hopefully it will be good to go tomorrow and we will have donuts, and in my case kolaches, again soon.
