There is so much to learn about all of the greatness that is the Texas Panhandle. People complain all of the time about having nothing to do. Where are you looking? I mean it's easy to find stuff. Just open your eyes.

If you like to get outdoors the Texas Panhandle really has a lot to offer. We have Palo Duro Canyon in one direction. The beauty, the hiking, the shows, and the views. In the other direction, we have Lake Meredith.

What more could we ask for? If you like to be near the water this is your escape. You can go out boating. You can spend an afternoon swimming. Oh, and the fishing that they offer.

I recently joined a Facebook group to dive into just what Lake Meredith offers. I have been out there several times. This is from members that really get out and enjoy the fishing life that a less than-hour drive gives us. I learned so much from this group.

Lake Meredith is a beauty and really a great spot for fishing. They do offer a lot of different fish for your liking.

According to the National Park Service Lake Meredith has plenty of fish (no I am not referring to the dating site):

Lake Meredith has been stocked by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department with fish such as Walleye, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, White Bass, Sand Bass, Crappie, Trout, and Yellow Perch.

Every year Texas Parks and Wildlife makes sure that the fish are a plenty for everyone to go out and enjoy. There are some limits put out there and you had better abide by them. It would take an awful lot for the lake's fish population to be hurt.

Just this year alone there were almost 450,000 walleye's stocked in the lake. That is a lot of good eating right there.

You can keep an eye on Lake Meredith and see exactly what is stocked every year right HERE.

So when you want to get away and get a little fishing in and a great escape Lake Meredith is right there for you. Less than an hour and you can be out enjoying the great outdoors. Get out and enjoy the lake life.
