The Amarillo Zoo – A Great Place to Take the Family to Enjoy

My daughter and granddaughter recently made a trip to Amarillo. We were looking for fun things to do so the granddaughter could let off some steam. We had a long list of fun activities. One of the places we were going to check out was the Amarillo Zoo.

I have lived in Amarillo for more years than I can count and I had never made a trip out to our zoo. I don't even know why. I know I can't count the day I had to make a DoorDash delivery. That can't count. So I was looking forward to experiencing it for the first time with my family.

The weather was perfect. It was one of those days where the wind was not blowing. They call that a Chamber of Commerce day. Going with a toddler makes it even more enjoyable. I love that we could just let her run.

For someone who has never been to the Amarillo Zoo I don't know what the reason for waiting was. Yes, I grew up in Chicago with the Brookfield and Lincoln Park Zoos. I have been to several big zoos all over. That may have been why I put it off for so long. That was a dumb move.

Of course, it is not as big as all of those big city zoos. That is what I love about it. We spent a little under two hours there so it was well worth the money. My granddaughter loved running and looking for all the different animals.

We had a blast. There is a lot to see. If you haven't been to the Amarillo Zoo, or it's been awhile I think it is time to visit them again.
