With the cold front moving in weather is going to cause a delay at some schools around the Amarillo area.

Here is what we know so far:

Booker ISD - Classes will start at 10 a.m. No buses will run.

Darrouzett ISD - Classes will begin late on Tuesday, buses will run two hours late.

Here’s what ABC 7 Chief Meteorologist Joe Puma expects:

EXTENDED FORECAST - Keep those coats, hats, and gloves handy. We are still tracking some of the coldest air we've seen so far this winter on the way as we head towards next weekend. We had a bout of freezing drizzle and fog this morning as a cold front moved through the high plains. This helped keep temps in the 30s for most of our Monday. Highs on Tuesday & Wednesday will be similar with temperatures in the southwest climbing into the middle and upper 60s, but 30s to 50s behind the front in the Northeastern Panhandles. The temps will only get colder the later we go into the work week as the arctic air finally pushes completely through the High Plains by Friday. Temperatures after that could also stay below freezing through the weekend. We have a few weak disturbances that want to push across the High Plains on Saturday and early next week. If we do see any moisture, it would be in the form of dry snow given the expected temperatures could be as cold as the single digits in this time frame. Chances are still very low, but if we do see any, it will be a powdery snow and could significantly drop temperatures you currently see in the forecast.

This weekend looks to be the coldest so far of the season with high temperatures only in the teens. Layer up and stay safe outside.
