This Grocery Item Starting to See Limits Again at Amarillo Stores
It's been a while since we saw store shelves starting to have empty spots again. The last hard-to-find items were toilet paper again. Let's not bring that back again. More recently there was another item taking a hit on the shelves.
When I went grocery shopping over the weekend the egg shelves were starting to look a little bare. I thought to myself, here we go again. I have seen a lot of talk of the outrageous price of eggs on top of that. I had not experienced that until recently.
Luckily I had always needed eggs when they had a sale running on at least one brand. This weekend was not that time. Nothing on sale and the shelves emptying. I noticed a sign or two up as well.
According to the sign if you are buying 18 eggs or less than you can buy 2 cartons. If you consume a lot more eggs than that and usually buy more than a package of 36 then you can only buy one. With the cost of 12 eggs being over six dollars I wasn't looking to buy more than one anyway even though I could get two. No thank you.
I was more shocked that I just paid about fifty cents per egg. I remember not that long ago when eggs were ninety-nine cents for a dozen. Even a couple of bucks would be ok. I am thinking this may be the last time I buy eggs until the price goes down. Luckily, I don't need to have them.
I don't have to have them in my recipes. My breakfast doesn't have to include them. I usually make a bunch of scrambled eggs that I add sausage and hashbrowns to. That is my breakfast meal prep for the week. Then I make single servings and top with cheese and jalapenos. Those breakfasts will be put to the side for a bit.
Hopefully, we see an end to limits at the store and prices going down. We can only hope.
