If there is one thing I can say about Amarillo is we love our food. We celebrate when a new restaurant opens. We also get sad when one closes down. Yes, it's the circle of life but we take a lot of the closings personally.

We celebrate things like Taco Tuesday. Any event we go to better have food. We belong to Facebook groups just so we can discuss our favorite places to eat in Amarillo. We have an opinion and we love to let it shine.

Amarillo Tex-Mex Restaurants with Great Reviews and High Ratings

  • Plaza Restaurant and Bar

Absolutely love coming to the Plaza. Speedy service, great staff and excellent food. Had the deep fried stuffed avocado with chicken and a side of bacon wrapped shrimp. - Tyler

  • Joe Taco

They have a decent menu of tex-mex cuisine, and plenty of different taco options. I ended up getting the taco plate that lets you try each kind of taco they serve. I also got the loaded tater tots and a beer for about 30 bucks. Well worth trying out if passing through or a local. - John

  • David's Mexican Restaurant

If I could've given a 10 star I would have. My wife and I enjoyed the atmosphere, the service and the food. You hardly ever get lucky enough to stubble on a gem like David's. Well recommended, hope to get back soon because we don't live in Amarillo. - Monica

  • Los Braceros

Best Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican food you'll eat north of the border. Very fast and friendly service. Our server, Julie was great. She checked on us just enough without being overbearing; and endured my attempts of speaking to her in Spanish. - Michael

  • La Frontera

It was my first time there. The service was fabulous, the food was Soo good!! I had the dinner plate (smothered beef burrito, beef enchilada and a bean tostada) with rice, beans, and salad. I highly recommend the green sauce, it was spicy and flavorful.  -Yessica

  • Braceros Mexican Grill & Bar

We decided to check out this place while visiting Amarillo. We went in and asked to be seated outside. We were seated right away, and had excellent and friendly service throughout our dinner. Food was to die for and it didn't take long to be served. The grilled lamb "Vera Cruz plate" was absolutely delicious. We also ordered a chimichanga and tacos Al carbon. Portions were well served and we definitely order more then we could actually eat. I would be there all the time if we lived in the area. -Nadja

  • Sharky's Burritos

I've been going to Sharky's Burritos for years, and it's always my go-to spot for a local delicious and filling meal. The burritos are made with fresh ingredients, and you can build your own to your liking. I always get the black bean burrito with all the fixings, and it's always perfect. The service is also great. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they always make sure you have everything you need. I highly recommend Sharky's Burritos to anyone looking for a great burrito in Amarillo. It's a local favorite for a reason!" - Ricky

  • Rosa's

Two Words: Taco Tuesday. This regional franchise is a step above fast food Tex-Mex. They even feature hot, fresh tortillas made on-site! You can find me here (or their 45th St location) on more Tuesdays than not, and I really like a solitary lunch here during the workweek, spending time with myself. -Duncan

So when you are trying to decide what to have for your next meal just know you have options. You have a lot of options that will not disappoint.
