What is Going on With Two More Closed Amarillo Restaurants?
It's been a whirlwind with all of the closed places in Amarillo recently. We lost Malcolm's about a week ago. We just got word that Sakura Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi is closing next weekend. That should keep us set for a while.
Oh, but it has not. However, the two that we were asked about tried to sneak under the radar. We received messages asking about it. I have also seen questions on social media too so they didn't do a good job keeping quiet.
I mean I guess that is good news. If nobody noticed they were closed then maybe they shouldn't reopen. Right? Luckily people were noticing and missing both of these closed places.
The first place we were asked about was the Denny's on Georgia Street. So when I went by to check it out there were vehicles in the parking lot. Just not a lot. So I thought they were open but just not busy. When I got up to the door the story was different.
That was not the only sign on the door. The second one was from the health department.
After looking up the health department report it seems there was a leak in the roof.
Roof leaking onto multiple surfaces throughout the cookline. Areas need repair. All surfaces must be cleaned to sight and touch and sanitized before contacting the health inspector for an inspection to reopen.
So they are temporarily closed until the roof gets fixed and the health department comes back out.
The second closed restaurant is the Chili's on I40 and Western. There are signs on the door. There is not much information as to why they are closed. When I drove by there were a lot of cars behind the restaurant. It looks like they may have been having a staff meeting. I watched as some of them walked in the to-go entrance.
There really is not much more than that. Not sure if there was a private event. If that was the case that information would have been better to put out there for those of us that are curious. Hopefully, Chili's is back open today.
I did go online to their app and tried to order earlier this afternoon just to see what that would say.
So that is a mystery. Just temporarily closed. If you have plans to go to either restaurant you may want to call and verify that either one of them is open. As of this writing, they are not.
