As we are getting closer to Christmas in Amarillo you may find yourself driving around a lot more. You have shopping to do. You need groceries for upcoming big meals, you need presents, you need stocking stuffers. You are in your car a lot.

Being in your car a lot brings a few things. It can give you time to notice things in Amarillo. It also is inevitably putting miles on your car. Those miles are bringing you closer to your next oil change.

It used to be every three months or three thousand miles. Now with the newer cars it seems to extend the life of your oil and you are looking at five or six thousand miles between those oil changes. I am a big fan of that. Let's face it, like everything else, oil changes are expensive. So why all of the talk about oil changes?

I noticed the other day that the Take 5 on Georgia Street is closed. Just like a lot of other places in Amarillo, there are orange cones up. The sign on the property shows that this is a temporary closing. They are directing everyone to the location on Grand Street.

They are in the process of a remodel. So they will be back open. I just wonder how much of a remodel they need since they haven't been in that location all that long. I know I was there the week before Thanksgiving. That is where I go for my oil changes and there were no signs letting us know that this was about to happen.

Luckily, I won't need an oil change for several months. Since I am a creature of habit I prefer to go to that location but will travel to Grand Street if I have to. Let's see how long this remodel takes.
