I know Amarillo is getting bigger. With the bigger size comes more and more issues we see in our city. It just seems that we are seeing a lot at a faster rate. What is going on in Amarillo.

Is there some simple solution? More than it has just changed. Or the fact that we have gotten to be a bigger city and it just happens. The past few days we have seen more stuff in the news. This weekend had a shooting at a local after hours club. This one left six people injured. What is going on.

Then last night all I could hear were all types of sirens. I remember asking my daughter what the heck that was all about. I mean one would go by and then another. Then it wasn't much after that before all the talk on social media from the Amarillo Police Department about an incident on Lenwood.

It makes sense that I heard a lot of noise. I don't live that far from there at all. Of course there wasn't a lot of news just an incident and avoid the area. I really was hoping that people would do just that and help our law enforcement out when there isn't a whole lot of information.

Scrolling through Facebook yesterday I saw that was not really the case. I had a friend who lives a block away from the area in question. He said that early on after the alerts came out that a lot more cars were in the neighborhood then usual. Yep they were checking out the exact scene that law enforcement asked them to avoid. Why are you doing this Amarillo?

My friend even mentioned that he will never understand the people who drive to an open and active police site to gawk. If your life is that boring get yourself a hobby. That is probably some great advice. Stay away and stay safe.

These are probably the same people who don't heed the advice of "Turn Around Don't Drown" or the ones who check out the streets after a blizzard. I mean we have got to do better Amarillo.

Amarillo On 'America's Most Wanted'

I was surprised to find out recently that we also have a bit of a history with the show America's Most Wanted.

Digging through old news articles, I found several separate occasions where Amarillo and America's Most Wanted crossed paths. It makes me wonder if there are some that I've missed.

Say You're From Amarillo Without Saying You're From Amarillo

Amarillo is a pretty quirky place. We've got the Big Texan, the weird signs, and (obviously) the famed Cadillac Ranch. But more than that, there's a distinct culture of close-knit community, eccentrics, a thriving arts scene, and much more.

The point is, living in Amarillo is a unique experience. Because of that, it's really pretty easy to tell who's a native or a long-time resident. And I can prove it.

Here's a couple of ways you can say you're from Amarillo.....without saying you're from Amarillo.
