Woah Amarillo This Favorite Caffeinated Place is Closed
You turn around for a brief moment here in Amarillo and things change. I took a few days and headed out of town last week. When I got back and drove around our great city I noticed something huge.
The Starbucks on Georgia Street in Wolflin Village is closed. Not only is it closed it is gutted. The sign is gone. They tore up the drive-thru menu in the parking lot. There is not much left there to see.
So I wondered about their fate. What was going on? Will they be back? I know we have a lot of coffee places here in Amarillo but that one was a staple. We can't be losing it, can we?
Luckily the answer to that one is a big no. According to their Google listing, they are only temporarily closed. So that is good news.
What are they doing? A huge remodel. When I drove by there was nothing inside like before. They definitely gutted the place. The sign outside was in fact gone. The best part is the drive-thru menu was gone. They were breaking up the concrete bed that it had sat on.
So it got me wondering what they are doing with that. The drive-thru area was a mess before. There is a major area between Starbucks and the drive-thru area that anyone leaving that Wolflin Village parking lot would drive right in the middle of. There was always the concern that someone was in too big of a hurry to get their coffee and plow right into someone trying to get on Austin Street. It happens.
So I am excited to see that they may have come up with a solution to that. I tried to figure out what could fix that. Luckily, that is way above my pay grade and someone else hopefully came up with a solution.
I am going to enjoy watching this transformation take place. I am in that parking lot almost every single day. I can't wait to see it up and going again.
