Inside Wonderland Park: New Ownership, New Rides, And Endless Fun
It's fun to get excited about things in Amarillo again. I know that it seems silly that some things help me to feel like a kid again, but I am ok with that. We got season passes this year out at Wonderland Park. Since that was one of their big changes this season, I thought, why not?
The New Vibe at Wonderland Park
Now, when the granddaughter says she wants to go to Wonderland, we know we can, and it won't cost us any extra to get in. If we want to go out and just ride a couple of rides and go home, we can. We recently took our third trip out this season and noticed new things.

Foam Parties: The Coolest Way to Beat the Heat
One new addition is the foam parties, a blast for the kiddos and the kids at heart." When we went, they had two that day at 4 pm and 7 pm. So we made sure we stuck around for the one at 7 pm. We wanted to see what they were all about.
The kids had a blast. It lasted about twenty minutes, and the kids were covered in foam. It was the perfect way to cool off on this hot day. The foam almost covered my granddaughter, who is over three and a half feet. She was absolutely delighted.

What’s Coming Next: Inside the Park’s Future
While watching the kids have fun, I noticed Wonderland owner, Jimmy Holmes. I went up and introduced myself and chatted with him about the changes at the park. He let me know that one of the new rides, Crazy Couch, will probably not open soon. No, he has bigger plans.

He has a bigger and better attraction arriving in a few weeks to take its place. He showed me how the ride works. They haven't officially announced it yet, but Amarillo will love it. The first new ride at Wonderland Park in years.

That is not the end of improvements. He plans on maybe moving the antique cars closer to the kiddie area, and is even thinking about bringing in another rollercoaster to the park. The changes are going to continue.
Rediscovering the Thrill of the Himalaya
My happy moment at the park that day was taking my granddaughter on the Himalaya as we do every time we go. This was the first time that the ride operator asked us if we wanted to go backwards. I was thrilled. I could hardly believe it. Was it actually happening? The pure happiness that came over me when it did start going backwards was something we had not experienced in years.
The quick trip to Wonderland that day was full of foam parties, a backward Himalaya ride, and a conversation with the owner about what is still to come. It's nice to see the excitement back at Wonderland. It's great to see the families back and having a great time.
