Dasher Diary: How Hard is it to Give Us Your Correct Amarillo Address?
Delivering food around Amarillo shouldn't really be a big deal. I mean, you go to a restaurant and pick up the food. Maybe you have a wait time. After that, it should be smooth sailing.
You just have to drop it off. You may have to hand it to the customer or you may be lucky enough to just leave it at the door. Then you can end the delivery and go on to the next one. That is the way it should be.
Unless you have a customer who just doesn't get it. I know some drop-offs can be a little time-consuming. You may have to drop it off at a business. You may have to go to the hospital and find the customer. They do try to make it easier.
It may be an apartment, and sometimes you can't find the building or the apartment number. It happens. Never should dropping off at a house be the problem with delivery. Oh, but it can.
Correct Answers are Vital to Delivery Drivers in Amarillo
Anyone who has ever written down an address and maybe put it into the app writes the address the same way. Or at least they should. It should have the house number followed by the street name. If it has an apartment number, that should come next. It's not difficult.

Unless a customer just doesn't get it. I had a recent delivery where the customer put his street name first and then the number sign, or pound sign, depending on what you call it. That usually signifies the apartment number. Well, this gentleman, as I found out, didn't mean it that way.
That number after his street name was his actual house number. Nobody does it that way. OK, so big deal, you might think, but it caused a lot of trouble. See, DoorDash included giving me that order with another delivery.
Usually, they try to keep double deliveries close to each other or on the way to the other place. Since DoorDash thought the address number after the "#" sign was also an apartment number, it had the map of deliveries close by.
After contacting the customer to make sure that was when I found out these dropoffs were nowhere near each other. In fact, they were at opposite ends of Amarillo. All because this customer did not enter his address correctly. It left his food getting to him very late.

It also caused me to have to call DoorDash because it wouldn't let me complete the delivery, because to them, I was nowhere near the dropoff location, even though I was right in front of their house.
I didn't end up feeling bad that his delivery was late because, wouldn't you know it, the guy who doesn't know how to enter his address like a normal person didn't tip.
