So recently I read that I could tip my Amazon Driver without tipping my Amazon Driver. What does that mean? Well apparently you can thank your driver and tip your driver and it won't cost you a cent.

I was skeptical. I mean nothing in life is really free. Oh, and I get a lot of Amazon deliveries. So I wanted to know if this is true. Could I really use my Alexa-enabled device and my driver gets rewarded?

I was going to test it out because as luck would have it I was scheduled to get a delivery yesterday. OK, that really is not surprising. I feel like I get a delivery almost every single day.

I love whoever ends up delivering to my house because I have a bench in front of my house that I ask them to place the deliveries in it if possible.

I remember the first time I put the bench out with the note they didn't really follow directions. They put my packages on top of the bench. They have gotten much better now. I have never gotten anything stolen but I didn't want to worry about that. So I am making it as easy as possible.

So here we are at the busiest time of year and the word is we can appreciate our drivers. All we have to do is say "Alexa, thank my driver." to our Alexas enabled device.

The rest is done for us. Alexa will let us know our driver has been taken care of and then they would get a $5 tip. So I gave it a try:

It worked. I couldn't believe it. Sort of. It seems a lot of my packages are delivered by USPS. So I get a message that they will let them know. Apparently this only works with actual Amazon drivers. Do we have any here in Amarillo? The thank your driver is an actual program though.

According to Amazon, your most recent driver will get the notification and the tip. The only catch is that it is just the first one million thank yous that will be eligible for the money. That is pretty cool. The drivers can make a little extra money and I can only imagine how the gratitude makes them feel.

What's more, is that the five drivers that get the most "thank yous" will also get an extra $10,000 and their charity of choice will get $10,000 too. I really like this. At a time when we are strapped anyway, we can still appreciate our drivers and all it takes is a simple thank-you.

I'm going to keep on trying. Hopefully I will get a delivery from an actual Amazon driver in Amarillo.

Give it a try. What do you have to lose?
