In the wake of the Las Vegas mass shooting, the Amarillo Police Department is hosting a C.R.A.S.E. event.

C.R.A.S.E. stands for Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event.  The program aims to educate attendees on things they can do during an active shooter event to survive the encounter.  The program is an outgrowth of the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response program.

The Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response program teaches the “Avoid-Deny-Defend” concept.  Officers that have completed that course are certified to instruct in C.R.A.S.E.  A similar tactic, “Run-Hide-Fight” is presented for the general community.

The C.R.A.S.E. program will be on Tuesday, October 10th from 6:30-8:30pm in the Hospitality Room at the Amarillo Civic Center.  There is no cost and tickets aren’t needed, however seating capacity is maxed at 250.  Plan to arrive early to ensure you get a seat.
