Discover Which Celebrity Made a Splash at Amarillo’s Iconic Landmark!
Amarillo is a hotspot for celebrity sightings. I know it seems weird for this little big town. We are lucky that we have things that draw them to make a stop. It doesn't hurt that I40 runs right through our city.
Why Amarillo Draws Celebrity Sightings
Then we have places like Cadillac Ranch, Palo Duro Canyon, The Barfield, and our new Buc-ee's has even been a stopping location. Of course, one of the biggest places celebrities always seem to flock to is The Big Texan.
I mean it definitely piques their interest when they see so many billboards on your way to Amarillo. The draw is the free 72 oz steak...if eaten in one hour. Once you see how much food you have to eat you have to see it in person.

A lot of celebrities have to stop. The Big Texan just screams Texas. The bright yellow building screams Amarillo.
Billy Bob Thornton Spotted at The Big Texan
We had another celebrity sighting yesterday as the star of several movies and a current hit television show made a stop in Amarillo and The Big Texan. If you didn't see it on social media, it got shared all over, and you want to know who it was we have some hints for you.
Think "Landman", "Bad News Bears", "Bad Santa" and "Sling Blade", just to name a few. Of course, we are talking about Billy Bob Thornton. There was a time that I just thought he was this weird dude who married Angelina Jolie and wore vials of each other's blood around their necks.
As the years went on I really started to like him and anything he was in. When we had to dress up at a Christmas party as our favorite Christmas character I went as Bad Santa, Willie.
Fans React to the Celebrity Visit
The news spread like rapid wildfire about his stop at The Big Texan. They were first to share the news and then the news spread quickly across social media.
A Familiar Face Returns to Amarillo
This wasn’t Billy Bob Thorntons first trip to Amarillo and The Big Texan, and it probably won’t be his last. Welcome back Billy Bob.
