Drug Emporium in Amarillo: One Part Closes, But What’s Next?

Recently, I received a text from a friend in Amarillo about some changes coming to one local favorite. This was something I had not heard yet, but I was going to look into it. Apparently, someone on a neighborhood app shared the news that the Drug Emporium pharmacy was closing.

Their customers were now going to have to find somewhere else to get their prescriptions filled after all of these years. So, as I was researching to see what else I could find, I also saw a post that the whole store was closing.

I had to text my daughter right away about the rumor. Drug Emporium is one of those places we like to shop. She loves it for the healthy options in the Vitamin Plus section. I just love the selection.

Is the Amarillo Drug Emporium Closing?

You can find a little bit of everything at Drug Emporium, and we have been shopping there since the nineties. That was when I was introduced to it by a close friend of mine. How did I not know about this store? Since then, I introduced my own daughter to the Drug Emporium experience.

So the news that they may be closing made our hearts sink. So I wanted to find out what was true and what was a rumor. I reached out to the store on their website, and they directed my question to the manager of the Amarillo location, Todd Custer:

Yes, we will no longer be filling scripts at the Amarillo Drug Emporium as of May 29^th. We decided that it would be best if we just got out of the Pharmacy Business.
The store itself is Healthy and will continue to serve Amarillo for years to come! I thank you for enquiring about my store. I hope that you will continue to shop with us going forward.

So the story about the pharmacy closing is true. That is going away in just a few days, but the store is not going anywhere. Drug Emporium in Amarillo is here to stay. I know that makes our family happy.
