Fore! Golf Tournament Benefitting ALS Is Back In Amarillo.
Amarillo seems to have it's fair share of different events throughout the year that are benefitting something. Walks, fancy galas, etc. are a very common occurrence in the city, and they are all typically well attended.
As much as I enjoy these types of things and seeing that they are done, there's always one type of fundraising event that grabs my attention, and I'm always looking for a way to participate in them.
Golf tournaments. Those immediately pique my interest. It's not that I'm some kind of scratch golfer who likes to go out there with a team and just dominate, no I'm far from that. I'm happy when I'm hitting the majority of my shots straight.
I love the camaraderie that takes place on the course, and not just with my teammates. You meet so many different people along the way out there, almost every hole to be exact. People from different companies, or just those out there helping the cause.
Another one is set to tee off in the 806, and I'm looking for a way in. It's the 2nd Annual Amarillo Kiper Golf Tournament that benefits ALS. It's taking place as Tascosa Golf Club on October 9th, and it's going to be a big one.
Outside of the golf, they'll be having a dinner with live music, and of course awards for those who didn't suck on this particular day. As always, there will be silent auctions, and if you haven't seen the auctions at a golf tournament, they're absolutely wonderful.
ALS is such a debilitating disease and they are working daily to find a cure, or at least to make life a bit less excruciating for those diagnosed with it. All proceeds from the tournament will go to the Team Gleason Foundation.
If you want to register for the tournament, just show up at Tascosa Golf Club on the day of the tournament between 10:30 am and Noon to get signed up for it.
