Amarillo Location Gets Much Needed Convenience Feature
Last summer it finally dawned on me Amarillo was missing this one major convenience. This one thing I know would make my life easier. Oh, and I know I am not alone. When I would make the trip to Dallas we would always take some time to fill up my daughter's five-gallon water jugs.
They drink a lot of water in their house. Oh, and she had help carrying them into her apartment when I was there. The nice thing about that task is she didn't have to worry about having cash for that. No digging for quarters. No having to hope she had a few dollar bills.
Nope, she could just reach for her wallet and grab a debit or credit card. That is where our world has gone. We just don't seem to have cash. I know I always struggle with that when I am in Amarillo filling up my own five-gallon water jugs. It is just a hassle.
Oh, and I know I can go and take them into one of our many water places here in town. I just love the convenience of those water kiosks. There really never seems to be a line. I can drive right up. Unload the jugs and fill them up. They tend to be a cheaper cost for water too.
The one inconvenience was having to make sure I had cash. I brought this up last summer how nice it would be to have kiosks around town with a card reader. There may be places that I haven't noticed that do. I use certain water kiosks and those have never had a card reader.
That all changed very recently. I drove up to my normal place to get water. I go to the water kiosk at 34th and Georgia. It's the same parking lot that has the Rug Guy and even the Dollar Tree.
I went to get water the other day and I couldn't believe my eyes.
I had to do a double-take. I wasn't sure if my eyes were deceiving me. There it was. A card reader. There was one right there to get water. There was also one if you needed to get ice.
I really couldn't believe it. While I was getting my water the Rug Guy walked up to get ice and I mentioned it to him. He said it had to have just happened. Those readers were not there two days ago.
I can't help but think that someone is listening. Someone knew there was a need and fixed it. I am forever grateful. I can stop digging for quarters. I can stop stressing about needing dollar bills.
We have finally caught up with the rest of the world.
