When it comes to trash pickup in Amarillo, I will say the city does a very good job. Now, if the people who live here would just remember what they are supposed to do to keep our city looking beautiful, then everything will be great.

I recently got to test out our city's curbside pickup. I had a couch and a living room chair that I was in need of disposing. It has been in my living room since my daughter was in middle school, so it has definitely served its purpose. It has seen better days.

What You Shouldn’t Do With Big Trash

I knew not to try to drag it out to that alley. I don't know why people still insist on doing that. It leaves a mess near the dumpster. It gets picked up, but not as quickly as it does if you do things the correct way.

According to a recent City of Amarillo social media post, all you have to do is make a phone call and leave the big trash item on the curb in front of your house.

Thank you for helping us keep Amarillo clean, safe, and efficient!

My Experience Using the Service

I got to test this process out when I was moving my family to town recently. I scheduled the pickup and brought the two furniture pieces outside and onto my front curb. That was it. Guess what? They got it picked up.
It really was that simple. Now, if everyone in Amarillo would just do it the way they are supposed to it will keep our alleys clean and our city running smoothly.
