Is Amarillo’s Kohl’s Any Closer to Opening Back Up?
Kohl's used to be my go-to anytime I needed anything. I mean anything. In need of work clothes? Yep, run to Kohl's. Are you needing a present for someone? I am sure Kohl's has something.
Are you needing a new kitchen gadget? Luggage? Towels? New pillows? You get it. Kohl's has just about everything. Then it turns out most of their stuff is on sale. If that is not enough they will end up giving you Kohl's cash to return and do some more shopping.
Kohl's has always been a win-win. Until a flood happened inside their store. This happened around the same time we were getting all that rain in Amarillo. Those rains had nothing to do with the flooding in Kohl's. That flooding took down Kohl's and Dollar Tree at the time.
Kohl's has not been open since. You could tell they were working on the store. It was enclosed in fencing and all kinds of people went in and out working on it. I would still receive emails telling me about the sales. I felt like they were taunting me.
I know I can still order online but sometimes you just want to browse and see what they have. Right now you can't do that. I have noticed that the fencing has opened up a bit. People are parking behind the fencing. A lot of the construction stuff is gone. They are now hiring. OK, that I feel is a step in the right direction.
There have been cars in the parking lot. I have called. They are still closed according to their message. Google Maps has them listed as closed too. I feel those cars are employees being trained again. Not sure if they had to start with new employees. I mean they have been closed since June. So probably.
I reached out to their media team to see if we had any idea when they would open back up. The response is that we are making progress:
Thank you for contacting Kohl's directly. In June, we temporarily closed the Kohl's store located at 2610 S. Soncy Rd. in Amarillo, TX, due to flood damage caused by a broken water line. The building has been repaired and deemed safe by a structural engineer. We look forward to welcoming our customers back when we reopen on Nov. 3 at 9 a.m.
So we are looking at less than a month. I know I am getting excited.
