Amarillo can change in the blink of an eye. It really can. You can take a short trip out of town and not realize what can and will change. We had the recent flooding due to the rain here in Amarillo. A lot of businesses near Duniven Lake, Lawrence Lake,  or whatever you call it had to close.

Luckily a lot of those are back open. What I didn't expect to see were a couple of businesses on Soncy having to close. They also had flooding but not due to the recent rains. I got back in town and had to find an outfit for an upcoming event. When that happens I usually head first to Kohl's. If I don't find what I need there, and in recent times that has been a problem, I would head somewhere else.

Today as I drove to Kohl's I noticed they were not open. What was going on? They were surrounded by fencing and a lot of workers. My Kohl's, my go-to was closed. So I went over to Google Maps first to see what they had to say. It looked like they were working on the issue so I don't feel like this is a permanent closing.

Luckily I found out it was not. According to Google Maps, it is just temporarily closed.

It turns out that they had flooding too. Not because of the rain. They had a pipe burst. So when it rains it pours here in Amarillo. This burst pipe affected more than just Kohl's. If you shop at The Dollar Tree they are closed now too.

They had a sign on the door. Really Kohl's may have too if I could get up closer to it. The fence kept that from happening. From what I researched it seems a pipe burst inside Kohl's. Enough water came out to cause water damage to both Kohl's and Dollar Tree.

I hate this for the businesses. I hate this for the employees. They may be closed for a couple of months. The businesses in the Paramount/Olsen area were closed for a couple of weeks. That was hard enough. But to lose pay for those employees at Kohl's and Dollar Tree really hurts.

I hope they get open again sooner than expected. I hope they can get the merchandise back in the store and soon.
