Is This a Weird Way for Repairs at Amarillo’s Thompson Park?
I would like to think I was pretty decent at being able to do my own work when possible at my home. When it comes to painting, I can do that. I can maybe do some patchwork. I do my own yard work. Sometimes you look for shortcuts to make the job easier. I get that.
It's not always the best way to do things but maybe you have patched it for a bit longer before you have to do real work to it. So I get that. Shortcuts are not the way to go for a long time. That is for sure.
When I bought my current house the previous owner left some nice big planters for me to use. OK, I can have beautiful pots full of flowers. When I got to planting stuff one summer I noticed her trick. It was actually genius.
Instead of buying bags and bags of potting soil to fill the planters she had a shortcut. She filled it with tons and tons of empty water bottles until she got pretty far up. Then she finished it up with the potting soil. OK, so she didn't have to waste a lot of money on dirt. It was so smart.
I would have never thought of that and she used stuff she already had to fix the problem. It was a cheap fix. Oh, but it wasn't trying to fix something like a road with a shortcut like that.
So what does this have to do with Thompson Park? Oh, just wait. We received a photo from someone here in Amarillo wondering about a shortcut they were doing in Thompson Park to make some road repairs.
I will be the first to admit when I got the photo I couldn't tell what was so bad. It looked like some patchwork on the road. I planned a trip to drive out and see if I could figure out what was so weird. What was I missing?
I found the area of the photo sent to us. I got out of the car to get close and take some photos.
