Kramer’s Korner: Amarillo Is SO Dirty. Can Someone Please Fix It?
Look, I've lived in a lot of different places in my lifetime. I used to move around a ton when I was a kid due to my dad constantly getting transferred for his job. Then I got into radio and have made a few moves on my own.
I've lived in small cities and big cities. None smaller than Amarillo though. Typically small cities and towns are cute and charming.
However, I can't really say the same for Amarillo. I like it here, don't get me wrong, but there's something that has bothered me an immense amount for the last two years I've lived here. It's how dirty the city is.
I know, there's nothing we can do about the dust flying around due to the wind, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the buildings, yards, etc. I swear, how hard is it to power wash a building? It's not a difficult concept.
What about all the trash floating around within the city limits? Can we not send street sweepers through or something on a regular basis to help clear it? It's embarrassing when I have friends and family come into town and it looks like it does.
I feel like the city only focuses on the "newer" areas of the city, specifically the Soncy area where it seems like it's always clean and eye-appealing. Then you get towards the downtown area and it's like you just entered a shady part of town, even though it's not all that shady.
Maybe our new Mayor can help with the cleanup and beautification of the city. It really could have that small city charm to it...if we would just try.
