Have you been shopping for flowers and trees? I mean we are getting closer to the time you think about the outside. The weather will start to get better. So you want a great yard.

Part of it is you  want it to look good for yourself when you come home everyday. You also secretly want to be the envy of your neighborhood. You want people to notice.

Amarillo Needs More Trees

My neighborhood seems to have a lot of trees but that is not true in all of Amarillo. So let's fix that. Oh and if we don't have to spend an arm and a leg than even better. This is why getting a free tree is the answer we are looking for.

This is really pretty cool. This was done last year and a lot of people took advantage of it. So Amarillo Parks and Recreation is going to help out again.

From the City of Amarillo Press Release:

PARD, in cooperation with Apache Corporation, is providing a variety of trees in three to five gallon containers free to the Amarillo community on March 4. This park-and-go event begins at 6 p.m. at the PARD offices on 507 S. Johnson St. There is a limit of one tree per car – no exceptions – while the supply lasts.

So we can make Amarillo beautiful one tree at a time. We only have to do our part and show up. Oh and then plant the tree. Make sure we water the tree. I mean this is an awesome way to fix our treeless neighborhoods.

Untouched by Time: The Historic Homes of Polk Street Then & Now

You know you've entered Amarillo's historic district once you hit the red brick roads of Center City. A unique reflection of past and present, Amarillo's historic homes seem to pose pristinely against the curb.

These large, thoughtfully designed historic homes are part of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Amarillo. But most residents will agree that nothing quite tops the staggering royal beauty of the grand homes of Polk Street. Built by Amarillo's founding fathers, the looming estates of South Polk are a sight to behold.

Check out these stunning comparison photos that show how these gorgeous structures have remained nearly untouched by time.
