Over the summer, we saw a lot of scams hit social media where scammers were pretending to be local businesses. Now, scammers are pretending to be from the Amarillo Library.

You can't make this up.

The Set Up For The Library Scam

The way it starts is that you get an email. This email informs you that you have a significant balance due to the Library for overdue items.

Several red flags here, because that's not how it works.

The Library Doesn't Email You About Overdue Fees

No, the Library is not going to email you regarding a significant fee that you need to take care of. In fact, how many of us have just forgotten about a fee and never heard anything about it until the next time we went to get a book?

I repeat; the Library will not email you. That info comes straight from the Library.

Social Media Alert

The Library addressed the issue on social media. In the alert, they say directly that they will not email you about a balance. So if you do get an email from the Library about a bill, I wouldn't take it too seriously.

Call The Library If You Think You Have A Bill To Pay

Let's say that the scammers email you, and you think there's a chance you have a balance that needs attention. Just pick up your phone, and call the Library. That will clear up any confusion, and if you have a balance you can get it taken care of.

Can You Guess These Towns From Their Satellite Photos?

I'm always down for a good brain challenge. This one however got the best of me.
It's always a fun time looking up address or cities and seeing them from a satellite point of view. You start pointing out landmarks and things you recognize.

One thing you don't account for however is something looking bigger or smaller than you seemed to think it was. So we started grabbing a bunch of these satellite pictures of cities and towns around Amarillo.

As we looked at them, we thought to ourselves, "how fun would this be to actually have to GUESS what these places are?". So away we went.

Go ahead and try to see how many you can guess correctly!
