One Amarillo Shortage Comes to an End But At What Cost?

What a world we live in. We have gone through a lot and have bounced back. We have learned how to adapt. We have dealt with so many shortages. Some really dumb ones. I am looking at you toilet paper shortage of 2020.

What craziness was that? We have gone through a formula shortage which was pretty horrible for new moms all over. Oh, and the babies that had stomach issues trying to get used to new food. You know the only food they can eat at that stage in their lives.

So when I think back to all of that I guess the sriracha shortage may not have been so bad. Except for the fact that it was for those of us who like spice. With the brand Hoy Fung having some kind of feud with their pepper supplier it turned a lot of shelves empty.

It not only was the Sriracha, but it was also their chili paste. I am still missing that. There was talk of the sriracha shortage coming to an end. It just hadn't reached Amarillo yet. Trust me every time I go to the grocery store I look for both products.

I have one container of each in my refrigerator that I refuse to empty until I get replacements. Finally, I was able to do that with my sriracha. Oh, and I am glad I held on to the older bottle. I wanted to be able to conduct a taste test. I wanted to know if there would be any casualties. Would there be a difference? I heard that there was a taste difference.

When I went grocery shopping recently I looked again. Is the sriracha back on the shelves? How about the chili sauce I love? There was some good news.

The sriracha was back. Not the paste but maybe this was the first step. So of course I had to buy some. At first sight, it looks all the same.

Then I poured some in a bowl to see and test.

The newer bottle of sriracha was a lighter color. You could tell right away. How would it taste? I will say that the new sriracha sauce is a bit sweeter. It still has the kick, the spice, that I love.

I do still like it. There, though is a huge difference. I really hope the chili paste comes back to the shelf soon. That is the one I am missing the most. Hopefully that will be soon.
