Open Or Closed? Here Are Amarillo Restaurant Hours For Christmas
As we head into Christmas here in Amarillo, we begin to plan our holiday meals. We think about how we want them to be special, or maybe we have traditions that we stick to.
However, not everyone is around family during the holidays. I remember my first Thanksgiving away from home. I had just moved to a new state and was on my own and couldn't go home for the holidays since I was tasked to work.
Finding an open restaurant during the holidays can be hard, especially if it's not fast-food you're craving. Thanksgiving is easier to find somewhere to eat than Christmas Day, but there are a few places you can go. Below you'll find a list of holiday hours for a lot of popular restaurants in Amarillo.
BUFFALO WILD WINGS
The popular wing joint will be serving up drinks and slinging wings for you during their regular hours on Christmas Eve. However, if it's wings you're craving on Christmas Day, you'll have to find another option as their doors will be closed all day on December 25th.
CHEDDARS
A spot where people in Amarillo like to bring their families can do so on Christmas Eve during their regular hours. Come Christmas Day though you'll have to find another option, as Cheddars will remain closed all day on Christmas Day.
BURGER KING
Here's our first fast food entry onto the list. If you're out doing VERY last-minute shopping on Christmas Eve, you can roll through during their regular business hours. If you're heading somewhere on Christmas Day, you'll find you can do the same. Burger King will be open on December 25th, but operating on reduced hours.
CHIPOTLE
One of my personal favorites, Chipotle will be open on Christmas Eve, but operating on reduced hours which more than likely means they'll be closing early. If it's a big burrito or fat tacos you're craving on Christmas Day though, you won't be able to get them here as the doors will be closed.
DUNKIN' DONUTS
You'll be able to get your morning donuts and coffee at this popular restaurant in Amarillo on Christmas Eve, but they will be closing earlier than usual. If it's donuts you want on Christmas morning, you'll want to snag them on Christmas Eve and hide them, because they won't be open on Christmas morning.
CHICK-FIL-A
We know they're already closed every Sunday, so I'll bet you know what's coming here. Chick-Fil-A is CLOSED on Christmas Eve, and a big reason is that it falls on a Sunday this year. To the surprise of no one, they'll keep the doors shut on Christmas Day.
DUTCH BROS COFFEE
Need that morning pick me up? We all do, and Dutch Bros is going to provide you with that...at reduced hours. Each location may be different, so check with your favorite spot, but Dutch Bros will be open on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but at reduced hours. Some may open later, and some close earlier.
OLIVE GARDEN
Our personal Christmas Eve tradition at home is to cook up our own Tour of Italy. If that's what you're craving, but don't want to make it yourself, Olive Garden will be open at reduced hours on Christmas Eve for you to enjoy. Christmas Day is a different story though, as they'll be closed on December 25th.
RED ROBIN
Hey, I love a good burger, who doesn't? You'll be able to grab one while you're out doing that last-minute shopping on Christmas Eve, and maybe if you want an early dinner. They'll shut the doors early on December 24th, and won't reopen them until December 26th while you're out returning duplicate gifts.
SONIC
A lot of fast-food restaurants are typically open through the holidays. Part of this is due to people traveling, the other is they know people still need to eat. However, Sonic is one of the few that will be closed on Christmas Day. You'll be able to enjoy them during their regular hours on Christmas Eve, however.
SUBWAY
"Eat Fresh" is their slogan, but they won't be allowing you to do that at their establishments on Christmas Day. You'll have to make your own sandwiches at home that day, but if you want, you can grab an extra footlong when you go in on Christmas Eve when they'll be open regular hours.
TACO BELL
Ok, I'll be honest, this one surprised me a bit. I thought for sure Taco Bell would be open for at least limited hours on Christmas Day, so imagine my surprise when I found out they'll be CLOSED on Christmas Day. However, Christmas Eve is a different story as they'll be open during their regular business hours.
TEXAS ROADHOUSE
Nothing screams holidays like a good steak, right? Well, get it in your belly on Christmas Eve when they're open their regular hours because you won't be able to get that ribeye on December 25th. Maybe waiting a day will make you want it more the day after Christmas.
WENDY'S
Ok, so I'm being proven wrong already about fast food places being open all the time. It would appear Wendy would like to spend time with her family on Christmas Day as they'll be closed on December 25th. However, you'll be able to grab a fresh burger all day and night on Christmas Eve as they'll be running on regular hours.
WHATABURGER
Every day is a good day for a spicy ketchup fix, but you better get your fill on Christmas Eve when they're open during regular business hours. If you want it on Christmas Day, you better hit the grocery store and buy a bottle as Whataburger will be closed on December 25th.
STARBUCKS
COFFEE!!! It's especially needed with that early morning wake-up call. The kids are buzzing with excitement, but you need coffee. Starbucks knows this, and they'll be serving up your favorite holiday drinks in those fancy holiday cups all day and night Christmas Eve AND Christmas Day as they'll be open and operating both days at regular hours.
IHOP
The beauty of IHOP is that you can get any meal there, and if it's a sit-down meal you want on Christmas Day, this is going to be your spot. It's the only sit-down restaurant option on the list that is open on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at regular business hours.
MCDONALD'S
With every other fast food option either closed or operating on reduced hours, McDonald's is making sure you can enjoy an Egg McMuffin or Big Mac whenever you want. They'll be open regular business hours on December 24th AND 25th, so there's no need to hustle if you're craving some french fries.
