I showed up at Mochinut on Washington about fifteen minutes before they opened on Saturday. There was a line already. I walked up and said to the crowd "I can't believe we are waiting in line for donuts."

I know they are supposed to be more than that. Are they though? Mochinut opened up for its soft opening this past Wednesday. So I was there a few days later. I knew walking in which flavors of the Mochinuts they had. I scoped out the different Boba tea they were serving. I also knew they were not serving their Korean hot dogs yet.

So I knew I would be getting a half dozen so I could try each flavor of the Mochinut that they were offering. I had already read that they were on the expensive side. I was prepared for that. You can choose three Mochinuts for $9, six for $16.50, or a dozen for $30.

I also wanted to try the Thai Tea and Brown Sugar. I walked out of there spending about $33 on six donuts and two drinks.

I brought them home all ready for the taste test. I had a daughter and granddaughter ready to help me.

I will say I don't eat a lot of sweets. So this was going to be a treat for me for sure. I usually only drink water so the drinks will be a treat as well.

I really loved how the drinks were packaged. I watched them make the drinks right in front of me. They were put in what looked like a soda can. They are packaged much better than most places when we get a drink. That I was super impressed with.

I really liked them. As I said it is not very often I drink anything other than water. My daughter said she would prefer them to be blended instead of over ice. She also thought they were too sweet.

My favorite Mochinut was the milk pebble with Fruity Pebbles on top. I really think that was my granddaughters too. I tried a little bit of all of them. They are super sweet. They are a little chewy because they use rice flour instead of regular flour like donut places. I read that they were super filling.

That was not my experience at all. I ate a lot of them. My daughter wasn't as big of a fan as I was. She is one of those Donut Stop snobs and hasn't ever found a donut she likes better than their cherry donut.

I am hoping that one of the flavors that they have is a cherry one so we can see if she likes that better. They change out their flavors every week.

Now the real test was I made sure I had some leftovers. This way I could try them the next morning. Would I need to put them in the microwave to soften them up like I usually have to do with donuts? Nope, in fact, they were maybe too soft. Still good. I still would recommend eating them the day you buy them but you will not have to soften them up.

For the price, I don't see myself getting them every week, but I don't do that with any kind of donut. They were good. They were pricy. I really am curious to try their Korean dogs. Maybe they will have them sometime this week.
