The great Ron Burgundy once said, "I believe it's called 'jogging' or 'yogging'. It might be a soft 'J'". It's something we see many people in Amarillo out doing, especially during these warmer months.

Typically, runners have a tendency to head out either early in the morning or later in the evening to make sure they aren't contending with the extreme heat, but it's not just the cooler temps they want. It's scenery as well. Running along a major street or just a random neighborhood isn't exactly the most calming run.

The scenery makes a major difference for runners. If they're enjoying what they're seeing when they run, it can release more endorphins and make that workout even better for them. They run a bit harder or longer because they get lost in the scenery.

So where are some of the best places in Amarillo to take that run? Well, luckily we have a lot of different places that could be a runners paradise, and maybe some of them you hadn't even thought about.

Thompson Park feels like a pretty obvious one to go do some running at. The trees, lake, and just the general ambience in the park makes it a great place to go for a long run. If you go at the right time, you can even watch the sun come up or set there giving you an even better view to run.

Many people enjoy running around the trails at John Stiff Park, partially because it's so large and there are shaded areas if you need them. Medi Park is another that people like to frequent. So really, any of the parks in Amarillo work.

If you want something a bit different, there are some great neighborhoods people like to take a jog through. One of the more popular ones is The Colonies, while another one many like to frequent is Greenways.

So there you have it runners. Just a few places to go check out and give yourself that serene feeling you want while getting that run in.
