Southern Comfort Food: Grandy’s Restaurant Locations Across Texas

The memories of going to grandmas house on Sunday to have a big family meal. If you got the joys of doing that growing up you were lucky. It seems that doesn't happen as often as it should.

So good ol' Southern comfort food had to be the next best thing. Oh, and Grandy's was the go-to for a lot of us. I loved Grandy's. Their chicken fried chicken or chicken fried steak would be what I would get. Plus their okra was the best. Their mashed potatoes with gravy was heavenly. Of course you couldn't miss out on one of their rolls.

I know that they have a bigger menu than that. That was my go-to meal each and every time. We had two locations in Amarillo. One was on 45th and Teckla. The other was off of I40 and Ross. Then they both closed. Sad times for Amarillo.

You just don't know what you had until it was gone. The fact that you can still find another beloved restaurant, Black Eyed Pea, in one other place in Texas. The same is not true for Grandy's.

You can find a few around Texas. Which means road trips. We have found one near my daughter's house in the Dallas area. So every time I go to visit her we do try to make a stop.

So when you are planning a trip across Texas here is where you need to plan to stop on the way:

So even though we may not have one in our own city there are still a few around. Dallas is not that far. You probably take a trip or two there. Maybe. If not Wichita Falls, of course is not a bad drive. You can stop and go through a lot of our great small towns. You know that the end result is some great comfort food.
