Talk about a blast from the past. We were talking about Black-Eyed Pea. You remember the restaurant? If you loved home cooking this was your place. We had one on I-40 in Amarillo back in the day.

I don't even remember when it closed down for good.  I do know that you can find Aspen Creek in it's location these days. It's not the same building that got demolished long ago. Man, the Black-Eyed Pea. That brought back some memories.

Their dinner rolls. Ooh, of course their black-eyed peas were so good. I mean they would have to be. How else could you name a restaurant after them if they were not. We have not had that great home-cooking in our area in a while. That does not mean that you can't find one.

Where Can You Find a Black-Eyed Pea in Texas?

Well you can. Oh, but just one in the whole state of Texas. Which is crazy to me. It's even closer than you think. Heck, you probably make a trip or two a year nearby. So you could go.

A business that started in Dallas back in 1975 it shouldn't surprise you that the lone one in the Lone Star State is not too far. Nope not at all. You can find a Black-Eyed Pea in Arlington. So I looked. Yep, they are there.

Oh, and I had to look to see how far they are from my daughter's apartment. I mean every time I go to Dallas we seek out the Grandy's nearby.

I had no idea about the Black-Eyed Pea. So I must check it out. Oh, and they are only a thirty-minute drive from my daughter. They are in Arlington. Yes, Arlington. It's about a five-and-a-half hour drive from us in Amarillo.

I would bet you can make a quick detour next time you are in the area. Doesn't this bring back some memories though?

I can't wait to taste those memories again soon. I know I will be making my own detour the next time I am in Arlington. You can find Black-Eyed Pea at 4000 Bagpiper Way Suite 150 in Arlington.
