A new iconic sculpture has been donated to the City of Amarillo.

During the weekly city council meeting on January 30th, the council officially accepted the gift of a bronze statue of Quanah Parker.  The statue was donated by King and Dianne Hill.

King’s father, the late Jack Hill created the Quanah Parker statue.  Hill is most well known for creating the white buffalo statue outside of West Texas A&M’s Kimbrough Stadium.  His other significant local works include Apache Chief Geronimo and founder of Texas Musical Drama Margret Harper.

A permanent home and location for the statue will be determined at a later date.
