Amarillo Reddit. The New Way To Make Friends?
One of the toughest things about moving to a new city is having to make all new friends.
A lot of times, you're looking for someone who is in a similar situation as you. For us, we want to find friends who have kids close to the same age as ours and adults who have similar interests as us.
Usually for my family, that means we make a ton of friends on the kids' baseball teams. For the last 8-9 years, our friends have come directly from there. It's the easiest way for us to make friends since we're always at the ball fields. They run similar schedules to us and we seem to see them just about as much as our own family.
However, not everyone is in the same kind of situation. I moved around A LOT as a kid, so I was constantly having to make new friends. As I got older, it seemed to get tougher because I didn't have school to find hundreds of people to see if it was a good fit.
With the advancement of social media now and different forums to post in, it appears people have gone to different methods of finding friends. I check Reddit daily just to see what everyone is talking about. Lately, I've noticed quite a few people hopping on the forum looking to make friends or find people with similar interests.
Take this one for example. This particular user wants to find someone in their 40s who enjoys having a few drinks and roaming the city playing Pokemon Go. I remember when Pokemon Go was a HUGE thing, but as the popularity has tailed off, it's been tougher to find those that are still playing.
This user is in their early 30s and looking to hang out at some Halloween parties and meet a few new people. I remember just crashing a party when I heard about it, but they've taken to Reddit to track down an invite somewhere. Innovative thinking there.
This has to be one of my favorites. Hopped on Reddit to simply find a drinking buddy or two. Now, when I'm looking for that I usually just hit up a neighborhood bar and fire up some conversation with a person sitting next to me. I had several people I became friendly with in Austin by doing this. Chatting sports or whatever, but I always had a friend when I showed up after work for a cold one.
No matter how you go about finding some new friends, it appears Reddit has become a hot spot. Have you made some solid friends off the forum?
