Amarillo’s Free Event Offers Help and Resources for Families

Being a parent is hard. It doesn't matter if you planned for ever to have kids or unexpectedly you were told you were going to be a parent. If you wait to have kids until you are ready you will never be ready. We all know that.

So all the planning tends to go out the window. You do the best you can. Heck, with the cost of everything from groceries to essentials going up, it is tough. It seems the only thing not getting a boost is your pay. When was the last time you got a raise at work? OK, when was the last time the price of gas or rent went up.

It just doesn't seem to line up with the way life should work. So when you need help you ask for it. You go out and get it. You may not know where to turn. There is help out there.

That is why events like these are very important for our community. The City of Amarillo Department of Public Health posted about their upcoming Sharing Hope Resource Fair. It is exactly what it sounds like. A way for families that are struggling to find out how they can get help.

It is coming up September 14th at the Amarillo Civic Center. There are so many avenues to get help. You just have to know about it. That is what this fair plans on doing.

You can learn how Medicaid and CHIP works if you don't have insurance. Trust me there is a lot to it so having someone to talk to is nice. If you need help with child care they will help you through the steps of getting assistance.

Again anything you can qualify for make sure you take advantage of it. It is there to help families not struggle. Nobody wants to see kids suffering. So attend and find out what help is out there.
