Beer, Shuffleboard, Haircuts. Tune Up In Amarillo Has It All.
Haircuts are an essential part of life. We all need them, at least at some point in our life. I'm usually terrible about getting my haircut, and in full disclosure, I just shave my head.
I decided awhile ago to just buy myself a set of clippers and do it myself. That way I don't have to worry about getting somewhere to get it done. I can do it at my own leisure. Not to mention it's a heck of a lot cheaper.
Every now and then though, I like to go somewhere and have someone else do it. If I go somewhere though, I don't want just the clipper treatment on my head. As I said, I can do that on my own. If I'm paying someone to do it, you better break out that straight-edge razor for my dome.
It's been tough to find places that do straight-edge in Amarillo though. It's kind of a specialized thing and not everyone offers it. I took my boys in Monday to get their haircut and asked if the place did straight-edge razor haircuts. They said they did. Perfect, I found a place.
Allow me to introduce you to Tune Up: The Manly Salon. They did a great job on my boys, so I booked myself an appointment for a couple of days later. I haven't had someone shave my head in at least two years, so I was really looking forward to it.
The moment I walked in, I knew I was in the right place. I mean this is the first thing that you see when you walk through the doors.
Yes, that is a full-size shuffleboard setup. I love shuffleboard. It's the ultimate game to play when you're having some drinks with friends.
While I didn't play a game, I did eye it thinking to myself the next time I come with the boys, we should show up early and squeeze a game in before we get our hair cut. It doesn't end there though. You get a special treat every time you come in for services.
Yup, that's an ice-cold draft beer from Pondaseta. See, included in your haircut are two drinks of your choosing. They can be alcoholic or not, your choice. They've got beer, liquor for mixed drinks, and soda. I was in heaven.
Sat down for my appointment and she did a great job with the shave. No missed spots, yes this can be a problem, a wet warm towel before the shave, then a cold one after the shave to avoid and shave burn and bumps.
If you're in need of a cut, don't look any further than Tune Up. The experience is second to none.
