Can the Potholes in Amarillo Get Worse? The Answer Is, Yes.
The potholes around Amarillo are the stuff of legend. If you're from here, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Some of them cross the line over into being more like craters than just inconvenient potholes. Kind of offensive, really.
But wait! I've got some cool news for you guys. With all of the winter weather we recently had, the potholes can absolutely get worse!
We saw this the last time we had an insane amount of snow and ice in the area. On Coulter near 45th, the potholes were intense. While they weren't technically sinkholes, they certainly weren't friendly on your tires.

On the LifeProTips subreddit, someone from Michigan posted a few helpful tips for all Texans who will be dealing with insane potholes.
Make sure your tires are aired up to the recommended pressure. Drive slow, giving yourself enough room between you and other vehicles. Don't. trust. puddles.
If you've been in Amarillo any length of time, you know where the trouble spots are during your commute. Slow down in those areas and be on the lookout for those potholes.
I have a couple of spots on my commute that are historically miserable when it comes to potholes. I decided to just find another way to get where I need to go.
When it comes to not trusting puddles, the comment thread on the post is full of people with horror stories of massive potholes disguised as puddles. Several people also echoed this advice saying it was the best tip of the group.
The last thing anyone wants is to be cruising along only to wind up with busted tires and rims thanks to chasms disguised at innocent looking puddles.
Thanks Michigan for the tips.
