Good News; Amarillo Not Under Emergency Alert as of This Morning
This is more good news. Randall County Sheriff's Office shared an update at 10 AM this morning stating that Amarillo is no longer under an emergency alert.
Go ahead. Take a deep breath. Let yourself relax a little bit.
Now, this doesn't mean you need to crank every appliance in your house up to eleven. The Randall County Sheriff's Office did go on to point out that we are still needing to keep doing our best to conserve the amount of energy we're using.
You'll need to keep conserving until Monday of next week.
We're all pretty familiar with the steps being recommended to conserve power. They're all pretty straightforward.
They all sound like the type of things your dad would yell at you about when you were growing up.
Leave the thermostat set at 69 or lower. Turn off the lights if you're not using them. Don't leave TVs and other electronics on if you aren't using them. Limit the use of large appliances. That means washers and dryers, stoves, and dishwashers.
So, you can do your laundry but make a whole load out of it. Don't just do a single t-shirt.
If you're needing even more good news to help get you through the next couple of days, this weekend's forecast has our temperatures finally getting above freezing. They're even calling for sunshine.
Also, I can't say enough good about the Randall County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. They've done a great job through all of this when it comes to keeping us all updated with the latest info.
