Hackers Obviously Take Over Panhandle Facebook Page
You never know who you can trust online in Amarillo or the Texas Panhandle. You get on social media and you have a few Facebook friend requests. You see one and think to yourself you thought you were already friends.
After looking for a bit you realized you were indeed friends but this page requesting you seems a little weird. You reach out to your friend and they tell you that page is not them. People pretend to be other people all of the time. Why?
Then there are the legitimate pages out there that you follow. One day you notice a post from them that seems a little weird. It seems like something they would not usually post. You get to looking at it and realize that they must have been hacked.
That recently happened to a Texas Panhandle Sheriff's page. If you are following them you will notice a strange post on their page.
Yeah, that seems odd. Why would they post something like that? They wouldn't. Hackers do that sort of thing to get people's attention. To get them to comment. They even post on other reputable pages to try to get people to then get on their page and follow.
This Hansford Co. Sheriff's Office page recently got on to the Hutchinson County Mugshot page and started commenting on posts asking certain commenters if they "claimed your Government fund yet?"
The commenters were quick to tag them and suggest they had been hacked. Which it looks like they have. We are hoping that the ones behind the Hansford County Sheriff's Office are able to regain control of their page.
If hackers would just spend even half the time they waste trying to scam people on good, just think where we could be.
