Here Are My Picks To Put On A “Classic Rock Mt. Rushmore.”
It's a subjective list really. Arguments could be made for Buddy Holly, Little Richard, the Ramones, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Robert Johnson, the Who, and several more.
Here are my purely subjective picks for a Classic Rock Mount Rushmore.
1. Queen
You could just say "Freddie Mercury" and it would be good enough for me. Their music goes beyond just being "Rock" and for the most part is something different entirely. The blending of styles and genres, Freddie's vocals, and some of the greatest anthems ever written make Queen a no-brainer in my book.
2. Rolling Stones
You have to have them up there. There's no getting around it. I tried. The "Stones" are just one of those groups that have to be in the conversation. Despite the fact that it seems like they'll never stop, they are hands down one of the most influential acts in Rock history. People are still ripping off Keith Richards' guitar licks.

3. Beatles
Of course they would be up there. It would be almost impossible to find three people more influential than John, Paul, and George. Ringo is pretty cool too, I guess.
The Fab Four found a way, more than once, to grow and mature their sound while still keeping their following. That's something that a lot of bands have tried, and it has ended their career.
4. Led Zeppelin
They have what is considered the most famous Rock song of all time in their catalog, Stairway To Heaven. They also took the work of Tolkien and made it rock. Bands have been imitating their style for longer than some of us have been alive. Plus, there's all the spooky legends surrounding how they wrote their songs.
