It's Something Most Of Us Have Dealt With

Growing up in a rural area, we were always dealing with chigger mites. They're also called harvest mites or harvest lice.

No matter what you call them, they're an aggravating pain to deal with.

The good news is that the bites themselves aren't usually dangerous. They just itch.

Treating those bites, and getting rid of the culprits, is pretty easy work.

How To Treat Those Itchy Bites

Fortunately, the easiest way to combat those bites is something most of us are pretty familiar with. Just...take a shower.

That's it.

Taking a nice hot shower and using soap while you do it is a pretty effective way to get rid of whatever mites might be left making you itch.

If that doesn't work, apply something like a calamine lotion or something similar. If that still doesn't work, use a cold compress to get some relief.

How To Fight The Mites In Your Yard

Let's say you come in from being in the yard, and you have the tell-tale signs that chiggers might be out there. Getting rid of them is pretty simple.

Mow.

If you have tall grass, mow it down. Pull weeds if you need to, too.

Also, you can spray a pesticide if you feel it's necessary. Another way to fight them off is make sure the creatures that carry them into your yard, don't make it into your yard.

Animals like squirrels and chipmunks are notorious for carrying them in. So finding a way to keep them out will help you in the long run.

Amarillo Landmarks: Negative Yelp Reviews

Yelp can be a strange and angry place. That's what I found out recently when I decided to sort the reviews by "lowest rating" first.

I was okay with the people upset over bad service and what not. But I came across a few reviews that, for lack of a better word, left me speechless in their scathing negative reviews on some of Amarillo's most iconic places. Prepare your self for plenty of head shaking and "I dunno" shrugs.
