It Costs How Much to Get in the Amarillo Zoo? How Rumors Get Started

There was a post going around Facebook the other day. I had to go find it and see for myself. Was the Amarillo Zoo really charging $26 to get in?

I will be the first to say I have never been to the Amarillo Zoo. My daughter took my granddaughter recently for her first zoo experience and they loved it. So I know this story floating around is false.

I marked out the person's name and photo to save the embarrassment. This is one of the places it started. The Amarillo Zoo does NOT cost $26 to get through the doors to enjoy their animals.

This one person wrote the post and eighteen people shared it without even questioning it. We have got to do better, Amarillo. If I see something on social media and I have any suspicion that the information is false I will do my own research.

I promise it doesn't take long to debunk this rumor. I mean just look up the Amarillo Zoo and see it for yourself:

Here is the real truth. Adults are $4.50. Children are only $2.50. My granddaughter got in for free since she is under two years old.

Just for giggles, I wanted to see how much it cost to get into the Dallas Zoo just to compare. Oh, and they didn't even charge as much as the Facebook poster claimed that Amarillo was charging. Another red flag.

So once again, do not believe everything you read online. You should know this by now. Do your own research. Amarillo Do Better.
