The great thing about Amarillo is that the choices residents have for whatever they need are endless. One of the choices people have to make is healthcare, and they are limited by what their insurance will cover. Healthcare is an important part of life, and once you get used to a doctor you don't want to change, but unfortunately, sometimes your doctor retires or moves on to other endeavours.

That is what is happening to a popular medical office in Amarillo.

Allegiance Care is a medical office in Amarillo, and recently announced that the practice will close on December 31, 2025.  For most, this is a devastating blow because, as mentioned earlier, when you find a doctor you love and trust, it's hard to just say goodbye and find a new one.

How the Practice Evolved in Amarillo

After rebranding The Medical Home Team in 2022, Shelly Wray, FNP-C, took over the practice and renamed it Allegiance Care. They became a member of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce in 2022, showing their commitment to the Amarillo Community.

On December 8, Allegiance Care announced in a Facebook post that the practice would close.

What Allegiance Care Patients Should Know

They plan on offering continued support for their patients through this transition, including medication refills and access to medical records. They will also provide patients with a letter that includes steps to navigate this transition.

Patient Experiences and Community Feedback

In recent posts in a few Amarillo Facebook groups, some patients shared concerns online, saying they had difficulty reaching the clinic in recent months. Several patients initially believed the clinic had relocated within the same building, but later comments clarified that the practice was closing permanently. One commenter suggested the closure may be connected to the retirement of the clinic’s medical director, though this has not been officially confirmed by the practice.
