A popular baby formula is being recalled.
Dairy Manufacturers Inc. in Prosper, Texas issued a voluntary recall on May 24th, for their infant formulas in the US, due to products being in non-compliance with the requirements of the FDA. The products in the recall include Crecelac Infant 0-12, Farmalac 0-12, Farmalac 0-12 Low lactose. These baby formulas were sold in Texas.
However, since the initiation of the original recall, the FDA has alerted parents that there is a safety concern for Cronobacter contamination with the Crecelac Infant Powdered Goat Milk Infant Formula and other formula products from Dairy Manufacturers.
Cronobacter is a bacterium that can cause bloodstream and central nervous system infections, such as sepsis and meningitis, respectively. Complications from Cronobacter infection in infants can include brain abscess, developmental delays, motor impairments, and death.
Symptoms of Cronobacter infection include poor feeding, temperature changes, jaundice, irritability, grunting breaths, or abnormal movements. If your baby is showing these signs after consuming this particular formula contact your child's doctor.
No illnesses from this product have been reported.
If you have purchased these products stop using the product and return the unused portion for a full refund. If you have further questions you can contact the company at 1-972-347-2341.
